The River
The banks of the Fitzroy River are in abundance of wildlife ranging from finches to storks and pelicans, crocodiles, barramundi, cherabin. The fauna is spectacular and as ancient as the dinosaurs.
The ancient Devonian reef has fossils identified as three hundred and fifty million years old which occurred during the formation of the rest of the Kimberley coast. Tunnels, ranges and caves thread through the reef offering a magnificent area to explore.
Bush tucker is still in abundance and widely sought after following traditional hunting and gathering ways.
There are thermal springs to relax in, galleries of cave paintings to view and gorges carved over many millions of years. |
